  1. Once again, loved the book Raymond. Learned facts about Wawa that I didn’t know so learning those was really enjoyable. My only regret was that I bought my copy at the Visitor’s Center rather than from you personally, so I didn’t have a signed copy with my name in it! As always, wishing you much success with your endeavors.
Also wanted to share that I read Wawa Goose-Meeting at Fort Friendship to my grand daughter, Misha (who will be 4 on July 25th) while visiting this summer. I took her to the park where the ducks / wild turkeys and geese hang out so she could see a real WawaGoose. She loved the book.

  2. I have really enjoyed all three books and I love that Ray has included so many people we know or knew and that he is including the history of Wawa. The fact that he brings the Wawa Goose to life is wonderful and I am looking forward to the next book. Hopefully Darlene Jordan Pfaff will be able to do the illustrations for the next book.

  3. We loved your “In the Heart of Canada”! Lots of history combined with much fun…and the familiar WawaGoose gang. Ray’s usual good story telling combined with very fine illustrations of heritage structures and scenery by Darlene Pfaff.

  4. The new book is fabulous! I loved it. Darlene’s illustrations are a perfect complement to the storyline. I know my grandchildren are going to love it as well. They loved the first two and are anxious to get their copy of book number three.
I sure hope you have plans for more Raymond!

  5. Thank you so much for telling me about your photo gallery. I have gone through the slide show twice now. It is beautiful and the scenes bring back so many memories of travelling the highway, snowshoeing trails, walking along sandy and rocky beaches. It is truly a record of our home and backyard and what a magnificient backyard we have to treasure.

  6. You will be glad to know the “Wawa Goose” has landed. The books got here early last week. Got the parcel out of the mailbox, opened it up and read it on the porch, didn’t even wait to get indoors! Loved it! Thanks for the personal autographing.

  7. These books are adorable and the pictures are so colorful and fun. No wonder the kids love them. Great job Raymond! Thanks.

  8. Ordered my 10 copies – cannot wait to crack the cover – just awesome! Congratulations on the second book – when I get home from Fort McMurray on December 9th – it’s one of the first things I’ll be reading! Thank you!!

  9. Hi Ray

Carter was thrilled to be the first child to read the new book “Maggie Doodle, Loony Loons & Crazy Critters.” He smiled and laughed through the whole story and talked about other loony animals for quite awhile. What a wonderful way to open up the imagination of all children and adults of all ages. You are so right we must all remember to believe in ourselves and our dreams. Can’t wait for the next book. 🙂

  10. Congrats on the publishing and the pictures are fabulous. Sending a cheque for a book for my granddaughter. Everyone should see beautiful Northern Ontario and especially the scenery of gorgeous Wawa. Almost as pretty as my native Cape Breton- lol! Seriously, reminds me of home, including the warmth of the people.

  11. it is July in Texas. The weatherman is prediction triple digit temperatures today. I loved the photos. Right now I would rather be there than here. Thanks for the new (to me) line of books that lie ahead for me and the 4 great grandkids. Jj

  12. Thanks for this unique insight into the Wawa I was born in but moved at a very young age. I purchased 5 books for myself and 4 older siblings who lived in Wawa as well. I surprised them with the books on Christmas Day to open together and was not disappointed in their reactions! It was so interesting listening to them reminisce about all the places mentioned in the book. We are all looking forward to future books, both the Wawa Goose series and others as well.
    Thanks again,

  14. Great job Ray. I love how you incorporated so much of our beautiful town’s atmosphere and life into your book. I look forward to more. Keep up the good work.

  15. Fantastic – my talented cousin! Can’t wait for my grandchildren to get their copies plus one for me. It’s those Cape Breton MacDonnell genes – I know it – but perhaps the French lady helped her Scot out too!! I’m so happy for your whole family – no doubt – it was a labour of love from yourself, Debbie, and the children. Thank you on behalf of the clan and everyone in Cape Breton!!! We’re so proud of you.

Cheerio and looking forward to the next one.

    Cape Breton and Alberta hugs,
    Mary Janet

  16. Raymond, Mom and dad were over for dinner a few nights ago and I showed them your “Wawa Goose” book. They were mightily impressed.

  17. Read the book one evening while soaking in the tub … seriously. the only problem with the book, that I can report, is that the pages aren’t water resistant…. so, maybe you can get extract some of that Wawa goose feather, water repellant & infuse it into the pages for the next in the series. Just a thought.

Seriously, loved the book, quick & easy read … after many requests from the kids, I simplified the story, & now “the Wawa Goose” is a daily conversation between the kids & as others in the list have mentioned, the art fabulous.

Looking forward to the next in the series…

  18. WOW WOW WOW! All I can say is I love this book! 🙂 I FINALLY picked up my copies at Coles bookstore this weekend and couldn’t wait to get home and sit to read it! The pictures are wonderful. But the story – ahh… so relevant. It brings me back to all the wonderful memories of my childhood growing up in Wawa.

My son is too young to enjoy them right now, but LOVES the bright colours in the pictures!! I can’t wait to be able to share a piece of what growing up in Wawa was like…

Good job Ray! And THANK YOU! I can’t wait to read what comes next!

  33. Thanks for all the kind words people. (Merci Yvette) Robin, you’re #1, the first Guestbook entry. Guestbook has been changed to Goosedbook, at the suggestion of my niece Francine Moran, aka “Frankie Fly”. The photo gallery section was created with people like you in mind, Aca Markovic. For those who were raised in this area, but live elsewhere today. Enjoy. I’ll be checking the entries here everyday, but obviously can’t respond to each one personally. I want you all to know your words are seen and appreciated. Stay tuned. We’ve only just begun…
